Step 1: Engage
For the Engage section of the Online Lesson, I created a screen-cast video using slides of different animal groups to prompt students to consider the defining characteristics of animal groups. I used screen-casting to present students with slides of different groups, engaging their curiosity in the material. The screen-casting resource allowed the quick, efficient creation of a video that enhances student learning and is an effective means of communicating with students in an asynchronous learning environment. |

Step 2: Explore
For the Exploration section of the Online Lesson, I created an Interactive Image for students to explore. The Thinglink allows students to explore what parts of the world animals live in, see pictures of those animals, and links live videos from zoos of the animals. The interactive image allows for enhancement of learning by allowing students to view the animals in their natural states and engage with the material that will be presented later in the lesson. The resource is effective by facilitating students to learn a number of facts about the animals presented simultaneously, while also being efficient in the use of time. |
Step 3: Explain
Within the Explain section, I created two videos depicting different animal groups using Green Screen resources and a Piktochart that I had created to depict the material. Students could then listen to the videos about animal group characteristics and explore the information and resources attached to the Piktocharts. The addition of videos was for student engagement and connection. The Piktocharts are effective means of communicating material, and due to the use of templates are easy and efficient to use. The addition of other resources to the Piktocharts in the form of attached links to Youtube videos was designed for learning enhancement. |

Step 4: Apply
For this step, I used Book Creator to create a book depicting the project for students to complete. The resource allowed for the addition of audio instructions, video tutorials, visual examples, and the links to the Flipgrid where students would submit their final project. The resource is efficient, so that students would find all necessary resources for the project in one place. The visually appeal of the resource increases engagement. Flipgrid allows for collaboration between students and to explore other students' projects, enhancing student learning and effectively reinforcing the learning objectives. |

Step 5: Reflect
This step allows student the opportunity to reflect on what has been learned through the lesson and additional questions that the student may still have. Reflection allows for students to consider on what has been learned, engaging with the material and enhancing critical thinking. Reflection is an effective means of promoting continuing learning.

Step 6: Share
For the final step of the online lesson project, I created an exit ticket for students to complete at the end of the lesson. I created a tutorial for students showing how to complete the exit ticket and attached the tutorial to the exit ticket. This is a final opportunity for students to demonstrate what they have learned and express any concerns/questions that they may still have. This is a final opportunity for students to engage with the material, and an efficient way for an educator to assess further areas for learning. This is also an effective way to close out an asynchronous lesson. |
